The Big House, Fort Langley National Historic Site, BC

As the name suggests, the Big House is the largest structure inside the fort. This two-storey log-structure was erected in 1958 as a reconstruction of the living quarters of James Murray Yale, chief trader for the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) at Fort Langley in the mid 1800s. It stands at the exact location where British Columbia was proclaimed a British colony in 1858. The building features fully furnished period rooms on the first floor and a larger upstairs multi-purpose area that (like all the other buildings of the historical site) can be rented for events, workshops and seminars.
